Tea Time for Toys at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center

At the July 14th Back to School Tea Party donors took a group photo with their school supply donations. The CCV Center’s December tea party is set for the 14th at 2PM. The Center hosts monthly tea parties where admittance is a donated item to benefit a local charity.

The Clearwater Community Volunteers Center will host a tea party on 14 December to gather toys for their toy drive benefiting local foster children.

CLEARWATER, FL, US, December 12, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — On December 14th at 2:00pm, the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center promises to fill tea-cups with Holiday cheer and bellies with delicious delicacies at their upcoming charity tea party. There is no cost to attend, but guests are asked to bring a new unwrapped Christmas toy as their admission. All donated toys will be given to foster and adopted children at an event at Winter Wonderland later this month.

The tea party will be Christmas-themed with green and red tablecloths, a colorful variety of porcelain tea cups and plates along with hand decorated gingerbread men. Guests will also participate in games like “Guess that tea” where they will have to blind taste test the tea to guess the flavor.

Christmas is known as a time for giving and helping others. Charles Schultz, the creator of the Peanuts comic strip wrote, “Christmas is doing a little something extra for someone.”

Michael Soltero, manager of the CCV Center said, “Children are the backbone for our society’s future. There are thousands of children in foster care, just in the State of Florida alone. I know that with the help of those in our community we can help bring joy to foster children who would otherwise do without a gift this Christmas.”

Every month with the help of volunteers, the CCV hosts such tea parties to gather supplies to support local nonprofits. One volunteer who helps to organize the tea parties said, “Putting on these tea parties is a lot of fun and meaningful. Each month is something new, with a different charity enabled to do just that much more!” Gathered supplies include those needed for school such as notebooks and pencils.

Nonprofit organizations can use the CCV Center for their own activities, at no cost to their organization. Interested volunteer groups or nonprofits can call the CCV center directly at (727) 316-5309 to reserve the facilities or to arrange a tour.

If you would like to attend the tea party, or to donate toys to the CCV Center’s Foster Children Toy Drive please call Michael Soltero at (727) 316-5309 or email ccvcenter@ccvfl.org.

Clearwater Community Volunteers Light Up Downtown Clearwater for Winter Wonderland Grand Opening

Pam Ryan Anderson, Executive Director of the CCV with her volunteer team at the grand opening of Winter Wonderland on Saturday 7th December. Winter Wonderland is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 6-9PM to gather non-perishable food or unwrapped toys for kids in need.

The Clearwater Community Volunteers celebrate the grand opening of the 27th annual Winter Wonderland with the help of Santa Claus with hundreds of families.

CLEARWATER, FL, US, December 12, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — On Saturday 7th December a couple thousand families gathered in the Osceola Courtyard located at the corner of N. Fort Harrison Avenue and Drew Street for a very special reason: the grand opening ceremony of the 27th annual Winter Wonderland. The opening kicked off two weeks of the now iconic Winter Village which hosts thousands of visitors every year.

“In the 27 years that Winter Wonderland has existed, the Clearwater Community Volunteers and the Church of Scientology have partnered with dozens of area groups in the spirit of goodwill and prosperity for all and – more to the spirit of this evening’s dedication – a demonstration of the precept written by our Founder, L. Ron Hubbard, to ‘Love and Help children,’” said Clemence Chevrot, the Community Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization.

Exemplifying those partnerships were the guest speakers for the opening, beginning with Mrs. Dora Starling, President of the Pinellas County Foster and Adoptive Parents Association. Ms. Starling thanked CCV for opening the doors of Winter Wonderland to foster and adoptive families.

“On top of how enjoyable Winter Wonderland is” said Pam Ryan Anderson, Executive Director of CCV and Chairperson for Winter Wonderland, “there is also a very special Christmas purpose. With your help we are able to get toys and food right into the hands of needy children and their families.”

For the last two years all food and toy donations benefitted the Pinellas County Sherriff Police Athletic League (PAL). Executive Director of Pinellas PAL, Mr. Neil Brickfield, who was also a guest speaker at the opening, shared how with the donations, deputies were able to bring new toys to at risk youths in Lealman on Christmas Eve, ensuring each child gets a merry Christmas in the neighborhood.

Winter Wonderland is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 6-9PM. There is no fee to enter the park but attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food or an unwrapped toy for kids in need. To find out more about Winter Wonderland please visit the website http://ccvfl.org/

Wilberforce University's Remarkable Second Quarter

Wilberforce University Students

Students Benefit from Donor Generosity

University Renaissance Gains Strength

WILBERFORCE, OHIO, USA, December 12, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Wilberforce University is celebrating the end of the second quarter with important financial wins as the University experiences a Renaissance.

The university, which operates a fiscal year from July-June, received a $1.2M anonymous gift from a passionate donor, as well as financial support from celebrities Kanye West (for an undisclosed amount) and Tom Joyner, who allocated 4 scholarships to students through his Tom Joyner Foundation just this week. In addition, the University accepted a generous $400,000 donation to launch a matching gift campaign towards the year end appeal from John Miller, the Vice Chair of the Wilberforce Board of Trustees who currently serves as the CEO of Denny’s. Fundraising is making a comeback with a remarkable $4M committed from passionate donors in the 2nd quarter.

Stakeholder partnerships are also on the rise, which will dramatically affect admissions in the coming months. In fact, the University’s leadership has re-established strong ties with the AME Church by announcing the launch of a $500,000 scholarship program specifically for prospective students who are members of AME Churches around the nation. This partnership will create a direct pipeline to increase student admissions.

President Elfred Pinkard shared, “We are pleased with the collective work we have done to continue a path forward for a strong, vibrant and sustainable Wilberforce University. We are, at once, our past, present and future and we stand on a legacy of noteworthy achievement to build a future of high performance. As a University community, we are all committed to the hard work required for a transformed Wilberforce.” For more information on how you can support the Wilberforce Renaissance, please visit www.wilberforce.edu or www.wilberforceunite.com.

About Wilberforce
Wilberforce University is the nation’s oldest private, historically black University owned and operated by African Americans. Its roots trace back to its founding in 1856, a period of American history marred by the physical bondage of people of African descent. It was also a period when the education of African Americans was not only socially prohibited but was illegal. There was nothing about the prevailing social and cultural ethos of the era that suggested that African Americans might or should be taught or could learn. Yet a powerful idea assumed life and Wilberforce University was born. The founding of Wilberforce University represented a bold, audacious and visionary example of what could happen when men and women of goodwill transcended race and the prevailing social and cultural constructs and norms to pursue a noble purpose. Today Wilberforce University offers 25 academic programs to students of promise from marginalized communities. Learn more at www.wilberforce.edu.

Russian Icon Collection – A Complete Book on Antique Russian Icons

Menaion icon

Icon of St. Catherine

The Resurrection – The Harrowing of Hades

Russian Icon is pleased to introduce Russian Icon Collection, our first collaborative project with the Museum of the Russian Icon in Moscow.

NEW YORK, NY, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, December 11, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Russian Icon, a specialist online gallery of religious icon art and artifacts, is pleased to introduce our first collaborative project with the Museum of the Russian Icon in Moscow – a complete book on antique Russian icons, titled Russian Icon Collection. The book represents a collection of museum-quality icons created in the Russian Empire in the 18th-19th centuries, each accompanied by the high-resolution images and detailed iconographic descriptions provided by the leading experts in Russian icon art.

Russian Icon Collection is a result of a several-year research initiative aimed at the popularization of Russian icon art, a unique form of religious art originated in the first years of Christianity. The icons included in the book come from private collections, with many pieces that have rarely or never been displayed to the public before. Each featured icon was professionally evaluated and described by Anna Ivannikova, a reputable art expert and historian who has made a significant contribution to studying antique icons, and Sergey Khodorkovskiy, a private collector and specialist in old Russian icons. Thanks to their efforts, Russian Icon Collection represents a compilation of expert knowledge gained over many years of experience.

The collection of Russian icons included in the book is distinguished by a unique style and value. Most of the featured icons were created in the important iconographic centers of the Russian Empire, particularly in Palekh, Mstyora, and Kholuy. Among the highlights are 18th- and 19th-century icons depicting the scene of The Resurrection – The Harrowing of Hades, also known as “full-cycle icons” or “polnitsy.” Other interesting examples of Russian icon art presented in Russian Icon Collection are the Feodorovskaya Mother of God with the legend of the icon in 16 border scenes, a set of 12 Menaion icons with the depictions of feasts and saints for each month of the ecclesiastical year, a rare icon of the Iconostasis, and hagiographical icons of St. Alexius – the Man of God and St. Catherine, among others.

Russian Icon Collection is the first book released by Russian Icon in collaboration with the Museum of the Russian Icon in Moscow. The latter is the largest private museum of Russian icons and Christian art in Russia, which was founded by the reputable art patron and philanthropist Mikhail Abramov in 2006. The Museum is housed in two historic mansions on Goncharnaya Street in Moscow, reconstructed and equipped for storing and displaying a collection of nearly 5,000 pieces. Admission is free, including guided tours, lectures, and concerts held at the Museum.

A PDF version of Russian Icon Collection can be downloaded on the official website of Russian Icon. The printed version of the book is expected to be released in the near future.

Author Ken Ungerecht to be Featured on CUTV News Radio

NORTHOME, MINNESOTA, UNITED STATES, December 11, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — If you really contemplate the whole universe, you might feel very insignificant, but each of us is a descendant of the stars. We're all created from a source.

Ken Ungerecht is the author of Divine Principles, which explores the harmony of science and spirituality.

“Science is about “how.” Spirituality is the domain of “why,” says Ken. “I don't think science and spirituality are necessarily at odds with each other. In fact, they're totally in harmony; they complement each other, And both are necessary to live a full life.”

Ken spent 30 years as an engineer in electronic communications. Along the way he discovered his true passion: seeking an understanding of our amazing universe through a determined and systematic search for Universal Truth.

“Even as a scientist, I can acknowledge that I didn't get here by chance,” says Ken. “There was a planning involved. Once I came to that realization, I knew that it was going to be something that I was going to pursue as much as I could.”

Just as there are physical laws to our universe like gravity, Ken believes our universe is supported by important spiritual principles.

“There are answers that are beyond all of us or any of us at this point in time, so what are things that we can know for sure? These are the fundamental ideas we can build on and that is the approach that I take to the book and I identify what I consider to be two important principles of spiritual truth.

The essence of who we really are, cannot possibly be dependent on the body that we're currently living in,” says Ken. In other words, we have to exist independent of that body, which means we had to exist prior to the creation of this body, and we will continue to exist after this body wears out.

The science Ken uses to prove his theories is remarkably straightforward; you don't have to be a scientist to understand it.

“Our main purposes is to bring out our divine nature as much as we can to keep growing,” says Ken. “One of the many gifts that we have received from our creator is the gift of choice. By choosing responses that are in harmony with the universe, we enjoy better outcomes. I personally believe that life exists for us to learn how to have fun.

CUTV News Radio will feature Ken Ungerecht in an interview with Doug Llewelyn on December 13th at 11am EST.

Human Rights Day Forum Focuses on Understanding

Dr. Alborzi introduced those attending to the Youth for Human Rights International educational initiative.

Members of the community gathered at the Church of Scientology to celebrate Human Rights Day 2019.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, December 9, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — An interfaith forum held in celebration of Human Rights Day 2019 at the Church of Scientology in Mountain View, California, focused on Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) Article 18:

“Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.”

Article 18 is one of 30 articles that describe the basic rights belonging to every member of the human family.

In 1969, in addressing escalating social unrest in cities throughout the world, Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote: “The United Nations came up with the answer. An absence of human rights stained the hands of governments and threatened their rules. Very few governments have implemented any part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These governments have not grasped that their very survival depends utterly upon adopting such reforms and thus giving their people a cause, a civilization worth supporting, worth their patriotism.”

The Church of Scientology of Silicon Valley spotlighted freedom of religion or belief in their Human Rights Day celebration. A recent article in Deseret News points out: “Contrary to popular belief, religious persecution is alive and well around the world. More than 80 percent of the global population lives in religiously restrictive environments, according to Pew Research Center.”

The Church hosted a forum featuring a panel of leaders from six religions: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and the Church of Scientology.

The following questions were addressed by the panelists: What are the basic teachings of their faith? Do their traditions have a concept of human rights? How have the scriptures or teachings of their religion been used to promote peace? This was followed by questions from the audience.

Dr. Alexa Alborzi, Public Affairs Director of the Church of Scientology of Silicon Valley, introduced the audience to Youth for Human Rights International, a human rights initiative supported by Scientologists and the Church of Scientology. As both a Muslim and a Scientologist, Dr. Alborzi said the subject of human rights is very dear to her—every person should be treated with dignity and their rights must be upheld.

Many attending the forum realized they had misconceptions about one or more of the faiths represented. One realized her views of Muslims had been colored by negative media and she said she appreciated having the opportunity to gain a richer understanding of the religion.

L. Ron Hubbard set forth the beliefs of the Church of Scientology on the subject of religious freedom and human rights in the Scientology Prayer for Total Freedom:

“We pray that human rights will be preserved so that all people may believe and worship freely, so that freedom will once again be seen in our land.

“Freedom from war, and poverty, and want; freedom to be; freedom to do and freedom to have.

“Freedom to use and understand Man’s potential—a potential that is God-given and Godlike.

“And freedom to achieve that understanding and awareness that is Total Freedom.

“May God let it be so.”
