Happy New Year and Tamils’ wish

Go around the world and ask the Tamils what is their need now. They will say that they need Vigneswaran-Ponnampalam's joint leadership.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, USA, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Happy New Year and Tamils’ wish

We want to wish for a happy, healthy and prosperous year to our readers and the Tamils in the northeast and the rest of the world.

For the last last ten years, Tamil leadership enjoyed the perks given by Sri Lanka and forgot about the promise that they gave to the Tamils in their election manifesto.

The Tamil leadership weakened the Tamils and made the Tamils to lose their bargaining power. Their approach never brought any resolution or benefit for the Tamils.

It is time for the current elected leaders to go home and for different leaders to take control of the Tamils' political effort.

Therefore we wish to form a new leadership. Gajendrakumar Ponnampalam is a strong Tamil nationalist. We saw his action during the 13 points request from the presidential candidates.

It shows that Mr. Gajendrakumar is very knowledgeable and brave concerning the Tamils’ political future.

Former Chief justice and chief minister of the northern provincial council Mr. Vigneswaran's knowledge of our history and communication skills are also very important. He will be able to help explain to the world why Tamils need protection and self-rule.

Therefore our wish is that the two Tamil leaders should join together and take control of the Tamils’ future.

Go around the world and ask the Tamils what is their need now. Also travel around the North-east and ask the Tamils. They will say that they need Vigneswaran-Ponnampalam's joint leadership.

Let us pray to make our dream come true

Thank you,

Tamil Diaspora News: Person of the Year in 2020.

To remind the world the suffering of the Tamils, we would like to nominate the war criminal and monster Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the person of year for 2020.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The continuous struggle and suffering of the Tamils is not ending soon. The only way this can be solved is by finding justice for the Tamils who lost more than 145,000 loved ones and are still missing more than 25,000. The war created 90,000 widows and left 50,000 children orphaned. The Sinhalese must be held accountable.

The last government by the UNP was a fake. It said that it cared about the Tamils, but in practice it did the opposite. Since the UNP had Western connections, it was able to do anything and avoid international scrutiny.

The UNP government in the northeast instilled many racist Sinhalese Buddhist symbols, settled many more Sinhalese in the region, destroyed Hindu temples, and blocked any effort by the United Nations Human Rights Commission to investigate war crimes.

In addition, the elected Tamil MPs were bought by the Sinhalese government with perks and positions, including a mansion in Colombo-7 with many luxury cars for Tamil leader Mr. Sampanthan.

Tamil leaders in the name of reconciliation have given up on the northeast merger, federalism, and searching for missing people and international investigation of the Sri Lankan war crimes.

During the last government, all paths for the Tamils were blocked by the UNP and TNA.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa's visibility in Sri Lanka as the new president will shine a light on the war crimes and the necessity of a political settlement to protect the Tamils.

Even though Rajapaksa is a war criminal and engineered the mass killings and genocide of the Tamils, it is good to have such a figure in power so that every international player will remember the carnage that happened to the Tamils.

To remind the world the suffering of the Tamils, we would like to nominate the war criminal and monster President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the person of the year for 2020.

UAE Schools are experiencing The year of Tolerance through Virtual Reality

— Immersive Learning Expert

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Establishing themselves as a vibrant, progressive society, the Middle East has laid special emphasis on equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities. The leaders here understand that citizen participation and accountability in futuristic progress can be enhanced through a qualitative improvement in the education system. Consequently, the Middle East has become a flagbearer of innovation in education. Virtual Reality remains at the helm of these progressions, and it is being exhaustively deployed in schools.

Virtual Reality is also an active accomplice to spreading the UAE's message for tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and cultural awareness. The country is celebrating 2019 as the 'Year of Tolerance'. The Emiratis are showing the world how a progressive society like theirs, furthers a modern collaborative approach while staying in touch with its ethnicity.

In the last couple of years, many schools introduced VR to create a new learning environment alongside creating a culture of innovation and inquisitiveness. Educators switched to VR since it is an accessible way of involving the students in lessons while giving them access to the practical implementation of their learning. It has already been established that practical learning is the most effective method for student engagement. But the constraints of physical boundaries, investment, and resources limit its mainstreaming. This is where immersive learning techniques like Virtual Reality step up.

VR JOURNEY TO EXPLORE THE CULTURES OF THE WORLD

Interestingly, students and teachers are playing a vital role in this experience. Through VRXOne's ongoing 'Tolerance Program' the students are embarking on the discovery of enticing cultural experiences.

With expeditions to monuments that are a thousand years old like the Egyptian Pyramids, or to exploratory sites and museums at distant places, the students enrich themselves with inter-cultural wisdom. The virtual reality expeditions also allow students to empathize and experience how the kids in third world countries like Africa go to school and study. To establish friendlier relations within communities and strengthen the values of harmony, there are field trips through which students enjoy festivals of the world. It is such journeys that make us believe that the world is one big family. Through these expeditions, students realize the importance of acting collectively and individually, with complete transparency, consistency and fairness.

LEARN BASICS ABOUT RELIGIONS AND BELIEFS IN VR

Festivities and celebrations bring individuals closer. It is a pure delight to be a part of unique ceremonies; streets and towns adorned with flags, pictures, banners, and decorations. The world today is moving towards establishing a tolerant, co-existing society and the Pope's recent visit to the UAE is the one historic moment that has us propelled in the right direction. UAE is, indeed, an epitome of harmonious living where communities share their joys.

Thanks to Virtual Reality, children of the Middle East are now also well-acquainted with unique rituals of the world and learn to respect their differences gracefully. From visualizing the fun and frolic of Diwali to being a part of the Halloween amusements, everything is near to reality. For the non-muslim users of Virtual Reality, it is now more accessible than ever to understand the Islamic faith and experience the festivals like Eid through immersive visuals.

WHY STUDENTS LOVE VR – IT IS FUN & MAKES THEM CONFIDENT

For students, the VR class is a delightful time when they’re en route to their favorite voyage. When asked, a student from…. school explains his experience of using Virtual Reality.
“Virtual Reality makes me feel involved in the environment like I am a part of it. It’s like being featured in a game. I was struggling with concepts like the anatomy of the nervous system and muscular system. With Virtual Reality, it became easy to view these lessons.”, says a student of GEMS Education, Dubai.
As becomes conclusive, many students view VR as a game. And it is rightly so!
Virtual Reality is an improvised version of practical learning. Additionally, the fact that it is interactive and fun makes it all the more attractive to students. It is also much more accessible, scalable, immersive and affordable with a one-time investment.

Introducing Virtual Reality in regional schools has been a commendable transformation. But there are some places where VR lessons are even more meaningful. These are the regions where people cannot afford quality education. For many of these students, visiting places like Wonders of the World is a far-fetched dream.
The good news is that many of these students have realized this dream through Virtual Reality. While students of the region experienced VR Expeditions with the leading immersive learning program – VRXOne, many of the underprivileged students also tried their hands on the technology. Amongst these were some students who overcame the shackles of physical and mental disabilities to experience distraction-free learning.

While 2018 was an important period for maturation and mainstreaming of Virtual Reality in the classroom, 2019 is the year for greater strides.

Church of Scientology of Utah Celebrates Religious Freedom

Members of the community gathered at the Church of Scientology to affirm their belief in the right for everyone to believe and practice their faith as they see fit.

Human Rights celebration at the Church of Scientology of Salt Lake City focused on religious freedom as a precious right.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Members of The Church of Scientology and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered at the Church of Scientology of Salt Lake City, Utah, to celebrate the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The event focused on Article 18:

“Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.”

Article 18 is one of 30 articles that describe the basic rights belonging to every member of the human family. But the program pointed out that this right is under attack from various sources today.

In 1976, Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard noted that attacks on organized religion were at the root of the deterioration in the ethics in society and the consequent increase in crime and drug abuse. He wrote that these attacks had “a fundamental target: the spirituality of man, your own basic spiritual nature, self-respect and peace of mind. This black propaganda may have been so successful that maybe you no longer believe you have a spiritual nature that I assure you you do.”

Another challenge to religious freedom, covered in a recent article in Deseret News, is religious repression: “Contrary to popular belief, religious persecution is alive and well around the world. More than 80 percent of the global population lives in religiously restrictive environments, according to Pew Research Center.”

Steven Russell, a Salt Lake City attorney, talked about the increase of religious attacks and the need for religions to stand together. He ended his speech with the famous words of Pastor Martin Niemoller who was incarcerated in a Nazi concentration camp in WWII:

“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

He was followed by Ms. Seretta Hart, President of the Relief Society for the local ward of the LDS Church. Ms. Hart described the role of the Relief Society and highlighted the important work carried out by members of her church in giving assistance to those in need.

Sandra Lucas, Public Affairs Director of the Church of Scientology of Utah, gave everyone in the audience a Youth for Human Rights International booklet called "What are Human Rights?" Youth for Human Rights is a human rights initiative supported by Scientologists and the Church of Scientology. As a Scientologist who has traveled to numerous countries around the world to teach human rights to military organizations and university students, the subject of human rights is very dear to Mrs. Lucas, who said, “Every person should be treated with dignity and their rights must be upheld.”

Those attending the celebration, though members of different faiths, realized the common ground they as religious individuals share.

L. Ron Hubbard set forth the beliefs of the Church of Scientology on the subject of religious freedom and human rights in the Scientology Prayer for Total Freedom:

“We pray that human rights will be preserved so that all people may believe and worship freely, so that freedom will once again be seen in our land.

“Freedom from war, and poverty, and want; freedom to be; freedom to do and freedom to have.

“Freedom to use and understand Man’s potential—a potential that is God-given and Godlike.

“And freedom to achieve that understanding and awareness that is Total Freedom.

“May God let it be so.”

At a forum at the Church of Scientology Seattle, the local chapter of Youth for Human Rights takes up human trafficking in Washington State.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, December 31, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Youth for Human Rights Seattle Chapter organized a community open house at the Church of Scientology in commemoration of International Human Rights Day. It highlighted human trafficking and hate crimes.

A special agent of the Seattle FBI Field Office was the featured speaker who underscored the problem of human trafficking in the area, noting that the crime of slavery is a major problem in cities across the U.S. and globally.
According to Washington’s Office of the Attorney General, Washington state “is a hotbed for the recruitment, transportation, and sale of people for labor.” In 2003 “Washington was the first state to pass a law criminalizing human trafficking and we have the most stringent law in the country.” Seattle is “part of a trafficking circuit that can include Honolulu, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Portland, Vancouver (Clark County), Yakima and Canada.”

Earlier this year, Seattle police “rescued 26 women after a three-and-a-half-year human trafficking investigation into massage parlors across the city. After receiving dozens of complaints, police investigated 11 businesses and arrested six people for promoting prostitution and money laundering.” The Seattle Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the FBI and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The director of Youth for Human Rights Seattle spoke of the theme for this year’s Human Rights Day, “Youth Standing Up for Human Rights,” and the UN’s aims: “to celebrate the potential of youth as constructive agents of change, amplify their voices, and engage a broad range of global audiences in the promotion and protection of rights.”

“Youth for Human Rights educates children about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and inspires them to become advocates for tolerance and peace,” she said. “Children of every ethnic and socioeconomic background can be trapped into human trafficking and it is vital that they are educated on human rights so they can protect themselves and their friends from becoming victims.”

With the UN’s 90-page “Global Trafficking in Persons” report released earlier this year stressing that human trafficking of girls is on the rise, Youth for Human Rights has ramped up its efforts to reach educators by exhibiting and distributing free materials in conferences in Washington State so that they can reach as many youth as possible with the message of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In 1969, Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “Very few governments have implemented any part of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These governments have not grasped that their very survival depends utterly upon adopting such reforms and thus giving their peoples a cause, a civilization worth supporting, worth their patriotism.”

The Church of Scientology and Scientologists support Youth for Human Rights and make its educational materials available free of charge. Watch a documentary on the history and activities of Youth for Human Rights International on Voices for Humanity on the Scientology Network.

‘A Public Enemy’: Pan-Religious Leaders Warn Public of Extremist Actions of the Christian Council of Korea

Pan-Religious Leaders discussing Rev. Jun and CCK

On December 28, prominent South Korean religious leaders issued a joint statement declaring the Presbyterian pastor Rev. Jun Kwang-hoon as a “public enemy”

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, December 30, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — On December 28, approximately 50 prominent South Korean religious leaders issued a joint statement declaring the Presbyterian pastor Rev. Jun Kwang-hoon as a “public enemy” because of sacrilege and criminal activities. In recent months concerns and controversy are growing from his hate speech and anti-government activities.
The event was hosted by the Christian Federation of Anti-Corruption and Sponsored by the Pan-Religion Association. In the statement the religious leaders, “denounce Rev. Jun for the sins committing social conflict and division”. This is due to his remarks including, “God, if you mess around, I’ll kill you.”, “Islam and homosexuality are diseases,” and “Women say Satan’s words.”

In January 2019 Rev. Jun was elected as the President of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK). According to the CCK website, the CCK was established in 1989 and consists of 61 Denominations and 20 Christian organizations. This has given him more influence over conservative Christian groups.

Criticism against Rev. Jun from the religious world was triggered when he said, “Those who believe in Buddhism should go to prison or an uninhabited island.” In his inaugural speech as President of the CCK in February, he stated that his major task is to “block homosexuality, Islam, and Anti-discrimination laws.”

Back in October 2019 in front the Presidential Blue House, Rev Jun hurled insults and offensive curses at South Korean President Moon Jae-In. Rev. Jun has led an anti-government demonstration and insisted that President Moon is a spy for North Korea and that there are 500,000 followers of North Korea who are trying to “drive the country to ruin” by souring relations with the United States.

Massimo Introvigne, Italian sociologist and the director of the Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR), the largest international organization studying new religious movements, noted “the activities of the CCK and Rev. Jun Kwang-hoon are causing international concern. In addition to their radical political activities, the CCK and Rev. Jun are spreading religious intolerance in Korea and abroad through hate speech and discrimination against groups they label as ‘heretic.’”

Under the Korean Constitution there is a mandate for the separation of church and state. Collectively, the gathered Pan-Religious Leaders shared growing concerns of the CCK and Rev. Jun over the political activism, anti-religious, and anti-national remarks and behaviors. Ven. Hyewon, South Korean Representative of the World Buddhist Summit called him a “public enemy.”

Scientology Forum Raises Awareness About Human Trafficking

Forum at the Church of Scientology Portland focused on detecting and preventing human trafficking.

Sex trafficking in Portland was the topic of a human rights forum at the Church of Scientology to engage the community in helping victims of this crime.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, December 29, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Sex trafficking in Portland affects children as young as 8 according to a Portland State University study and the average age of children being trafficked is 15. Raising awareness about this issue and what the individual can do to be alert and take action was the focus of an open house held at the Church of Scientology Portland at 309 SW 3rd Ave.

The Church of Scientology Portland Director of Public Affairs Cherie Gross began the program with an overview of the issue, including the importance of educating youth on their human rights. She introduced the human rights initiative the Church supports, United for Human Rights, and the educational materials the Church makes available free of charge to educators, community organizations and law enforcement for their use in making this and other human rights abuses known and understood.

The forum featured a presentation by a sergeant of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Department who works in a special unit that uses intelligence collected at the jail to assist in identifying sex traffickers, purchasers, and victims. The common comment by those attending the open house was that they had no idea of the extent of the problem. This was further pushed home by the screening of a documentary on sex trafficking of minors in Portland, titled "Waiting for the Light". Produced in 2015 by the Junior League of Portland, the film includes interviews with law enforcement, victims and perpetrators and shows the extent of the situation and what the individual can do to take action.

The Church of Scientology Portland opened its doors in the city’s historic downtown quarter in May 2013. The Church’s home is the landmark Sherlock Building, originally constructed in 1893 and listed today on the National Register of Historic Places. The Church is featured in an episode of Destination: Scientology on the Scientology Network, which can be streamed at Scientology.tv and is available through satellite television, mobile apps and via the Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV platforms.

Religious and Political Turmoil in South Korea Fueled by Controversial Pastor

President of the CCK, Rev. Jun Gwang-hoon

Followers of Rev. Jun at Rally

Anti-government rallies in Seoul, Korea hosted by Rev. Jun Gwang-hoon are growing in popularity, but stirring religious and political disarray.

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, USA, December 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Reverend Jun Gwang-hoon is a 63-year-old Presbyterian pastor in South Korea that has been in the Korean news in recent days. He is the leader of a church of Sarang Jeil Church in Seoul. On 11 November 2019 the New York Times published an article titled, “The Populist Pastor Leading a Conservative Revival in South Korea” by Choe Sang-Hun. It was reported, “Mr. Jun has attracted huge crowds to his rallies in central Seoul in recent weeks, forcing President Moon Jae-in’s justice minister, Cho Kuk, to step down. He is also demanding Mr. Moon’s resignation, calling it, ‘an order from the Lord.’”

According to Hwang Gui-hag, editor in chief of the Seoul-based Law Times, Rev. Jun claims, South Korean President Moon is a “North Korean spy.” Despite outlandish claims, he states this controversial leader’s “strategy works, making him a force that cannot be ignored.”

In January 2019 Rev. Jun was elected as the President of the Christian Council of Korea (CCK). According to the CCK website, the CCK was established in 1989 and consists of 61 denominations and 20 Christian organizations. This has given him more influence among conservative christian groups.
In October Mr. Moon’s Democratic Party launched an investigation of Rev. Jun based on charges of inciting insurrection after he attempted to convince members to form a group to invade the presidential Blue House as an act of rebellion.

Despite such troubling reports, the anti-government rallies hosted by Rev. Jun are growing in popularity. On 22 October 2019 Rev. Jun held a protest in front of the Blue House and ranted extreme statements. One such claim was that “[President] Moon Jae-in has already been disposed of by God. The Republic of Korea will revolve around Pastor Jun Gwang-hoon [himself] for the next ten years.” Another deeply troubling declaration was, “God, freeze! If God messes with me, he’s dead. This is how close I am with God.” According to an article in the Korea Times published on 10 June 2019 titled, “Radical Pastor Calls for Impeaching President Moon” by Kang Hyun-kyung, radical statements such as these are drawing a “slew of criticism from a number of fellow Protestant leaders.” Detractors state he is politicizing Christianity for his own gain. In the same article Pastor Kim- In Ki states, Rev. Jun is “using ‘fear politics’ inside the Christian group to repress his opponents.” and “released a statement urging Jun to step down.” The controversy surrounding Rev. Jun has stirred an upset in the Christian and political communities in South Korea for several months and the turmoil seems to grow with each of his rallies and protests.
