Philadelphia Is Yearning, Crying For Connection. Unbelievably Easy Way To Create Powerful Connection In Coronavirus Age

Help Is Here. What You Don’t Know!

PHILADELPHIA, PA, UNITED STATES, April 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Right after Pennsylvania told residents to stay at home and shelter in place, a very small synagogue, Historic Congregation Kesher Israel, decided to do something unusual. According to Mark Levine, executive board member, “We had to focus on community. Community is the heart of everything we do at Kesher Israel and we wanted to help our community – not solely our members. We felt a sense of urgency and responsibility to serve the community where we are located and even the suburban community beyond Philadelphia”.

Kesher Israel knew they would not be able to hold regular services for their own congregation and more than that they wanted to help other residents in their community who needed some spiritual uplifting and guidance during this pandemic. They thought outside their synagogue walls and outside their own congregation and members. Kesher Israel knew their entire Philadelphia and suburban Philadelphia community were seeking community, wanting to be uplifted and wanted to feel connected.

Kesher Israel began hosting virtual services over Zoom and Facebook Live not only to keep social distancing orders also to reach more residents who they could help by offering their services with no membership dues. While many other religious organizations have used Zoom and Facebook Live most have only shared those services with congregation members using private Zoom links and invitations or going live on closed/secret Facebook groups that you would only be a member of if you belonged to their congregation.

“This small synagogue is proud to be a model of connection (which is what ‘Kesher’ means) and community. This is the time to reach more people and not worry over who is paying dues. We believe it is essential to share a message of hope and belief to everyone at this critical time”, said Levine.

Kesher Israel has had people attend their virtual services from Argentina, Brazil, Mississippi, New Jersey, Mexico and Chicago as well as many other areas. “People are seeking religious practice and prayers right now. This is the way we can practice religion and not separate ourselves from one another, at least virtually for now. We know that people need togetherness and through our virtual community outreach we are helping Philadelphia and surrounding residents get virtual programs that give them a sense of certainty during this uncertain time. People are anxious for connection and are grateful to us for providing what they are seeking”, Levine said.

While sheltering in place may not give Philadelphia residents the sense of connection and community they seek, Kesher Israel is providing this. In fact, the synagogue says all are welcome to attend the Facebook Live services held right from their Facebook Page on Friday nights at 6:30 PM (EDT) and Saturday mornings at 10:30 AM (EDT). Members of the Jewish faith from all sects and with varying beliefs, non-Jews, as well as some agnostics, atheist’s and people with no particular religious belief or upbringing have been attending and are fully welcome to attend. One attendee said, “Feeling connected to community is what I was missing. I attend every week as I feel more comfort, inspiration and hope by praying with others and hearing the spiritual tunes and uplifting words. I am grateful to have a place to pray for family and friends and for the front-line workers, too”.

Kesher Israel has been serving the Philadelphia community since 1894. It has the longest running morning service in the Philadelphia region. Virtual services can be accessed on their Facebook page and all are invited to attend: https://www.facebook.com/KesherIsraelPhilly/.

Groundbreaking Reggae Chart Toppers CHRISTAFARI Announce New AVION BLACKMAN Album, Release Single and Music Video

CHRISTAFARI featuring Avion Blackman, “Moment to Pray” (Lion of Zion Entertainment)

Chart-topping Reggae pioneers CHRISTAFARI have announced the upcoming release of a new studio album, FLY, due May 21st, from Lion of Zion Entertainment.

'Moment to Pray' is being released in time for the National Day of Prayer (May 7). We hope this song inspires people, and offers hope at such a dark time in our nation’s history.”

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, April 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Chart-topping Reggae pioneers CHRISTAFARI have announced the upcoming release of a new studio album, FLY, due May 21st, from Lion of Zion Entertainment. Billed as CHRISTAFARI featuring Avion Blackman for the first time, the group’s longtime co-vocalist steps front and center on this new collection of songs.
The first single, “Moment to Pray,” premieres today with the release of a new music video on CHRISTAFARI’s official YouTube channel, which receives 2 million views monthly and growing.

Watch the "Moment to Pray" music video: https://youtu.be/K5D-5N-GioA

“My father, Ras Shorty I, was the creator of Soca music and raised our family on a healthy diet of music and faith,” says Blackman. “Prayer was a huge part of our lives and still remains so today. With all that’s going on in the world, we need prayer now more than ever.”

“'Moment to Pray' is being released in time for the National Day of Prayer (May 7),” says CHRISTAFARI founder and co-vocalist Mark Mohr, who also happens to be married to Blackman. “We hope this song inspires people, and offers hope at such a dark time in our nation’s history.”

The new single and upcoming album are produced by CHRISTAFARI's guitarist Renato Taimes, who resides in São Paulo, Brazil. Mohr co-produced the single and co-directed (with Luis Juarez) the new music video.

The band made headlines in March with the release of "CHRISTAFARI’s Pandemic (COVID-19 Quarantine Anthem).” The tongue-in-cheek single and music video featuring Mohr and Blackman were inspired by the postponement of the band’s current world tour. 10 out of the band’s 12 members became ill during CHRISTAFARI's South America tour, which ended in early March. All members fully recovered, just in time for a mandatory quarantine in their home state of California.

“Moment to Pray” as well as "CHRISTAFARI’s Pandemic (COVID-19 Quarantine Anthem)” are available now on all platforms including YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Google Play and more.

For more information, visit www.CHRISTAFARI.com.

ABOUT CHRISTAFARI: The band was founded in Los Angeles, CA by Mark Mohr in 1989. Avion Blackman joined as vocalist and bassist in 2003 shortly after she met Mohr in her home country of Trinidad and Tobago. After three decades, the Reggae pioneers are the all-time top-selling Gospel Reggae act worldwide. 3 Good Reasons to Make Masks

Deanna works a full-time job and makes masks when she comes home.

Judy wanted to support the project because emergency workers are performing such an important service and someone needs to look after their needs

Judy wanted to support the project because emergency workers are performing such an important service and someone needs to look after their needs.

Three Seattle women explain why they decided to contribute their time to a project the Church of Scientology Seattle is running

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, April 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — "I've been sewing since I was 10," says Judy. The mother of three and grandmother of four ages 4 to 23, had "a whole bunch of fabric collected over the years." She went through her stash and used everything that was appropriate and just as she was running out, a friend donated a box of fabric so she could keep on making 15 to 20 masks each day.

She decided to take part in the project because "a lot of people out there don't have access to things like this. It's serving a good purpose because they're reusable, they can be washed and they're filling a need for people who are providing such a valuable service and who don't have any other access to them otherwise."

Linda is a second-generation Scientologist whose sister and brother, daughter and grandchildren are also members of the Church. Up to recently, her work supervising building contracts was not considered "essential," so she was at home, riding out the pandemic.

"I started this by making some masks for my brother whose kids live in the Philippines," she says. She found out they can't go out without masks, but there were none to be had there so she created and shipped masks over to them. She was looking for what she could do with the fabric she had left over and found out her Church was making and donating masks for emergency workers.

She makes 50 masks a week—25 for the project and 25 that she sells to help make ends meet.

"I think it's fabulous to do this because it's very difficult to find masks here," she says. "The people we're making masks for are helping the homeless and other people who are neglected and left behind and what we are doing gives them the protection they need to do their jobs."

Unlike the other two, Deanna is still at work in her job at the Port of Tacoma. She makes masks when she gets home from work. She began doing this because of the daughter of one of her co-workers.

"Her daughter works in a senior facility in Montana. They had no PPE (personal protection equipment) at all. While I was making masks to ship to Montana, I was researching the availability of masks and found out it is a much bigger situation than I thought."

Unlike hospitals, long-term care facilities haven't been stocking reserves of PPE. "If residents need that level of care, they send them to a hospital," she says. But that's all changed with the pandemic and these caregivers need to wear masks and take every precaution against bringing the virus home to their families.

"Another friend of mine became aware of the mask shortage from a Facebook group she belongs to, and she started making them. A lot of them went to the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle.

"Then I talked to my friend Zoe from my Church, the Church of Scientology in Seattle. The Church and our Scientology Volunteer Ministers are active in WAVOAD (Washington Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster), and I was told that the Salvation Army needs masks for workers and residents at their centers."

"The Salvation Army has a mission to care for those in their emergency shelters and centers," said Rev. Ann Pearce who is handling the mask-making logistics at the Church of Scientology in Seattle. "Staff and residents are more at risk without these masks, so we are making as many as we can to fill that need and those of others in our community as well. We also appreciate those from other faiths who have joined us on this project."

Washington was the first state to report a COVID-19 case. Currently, over 14,000 people in the state have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

To assist with making face masks for donation, contact the Church at publicaffairs@churchofscientology.net and they will be put to good use.

Prevention is important. The Church of Scientology has created its How to Stay Well Prevention Resource Center to prevent the spread of illness and help people keep themselves and others well.

With the motto "an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure," the website includes information on how viruses and bacteria spread, how to properly wash your hands, the proper use of masks and gloves, social distancing tips, how to clean and sanitize your home, and what to do if you become sick or have symptoms.

The website is available in 17 languages and is offered as a public service by the Church of Scientology.

Pastor Chelsea Smith on Loneliness and Austin McCulloh on Resilience, Interviewed by Fotis Georgiadis

Loneliness issues compounded by COVID-19. Resilience is needed across the board.

When I met Jesus, I felt the most incredible unconditional love I have ever known.”

— Pastor Chelsea Smith, Lead Pastor

GREENWICH, CT, USA, April 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Fotis Georgiadis, owner of the blog by his namesake, is a branding and image consultant specialist with a robust background and is a visionary interviewer. With a knack for pulling out a well-rounded interview, not only covering cutting edge technologies and corporate directions but also bringing out the personal side of the interviewee.

When it comes to branding and imaging, for a product, company or individual, Fotis Georgiadis' work makes a huge difference. In addition, he can help with rebuilding and rebranding as well. Below are excerpts from two recent interviews where he's helped them get the word out.

Pastor Chelsea Smith, Lead Pastor
In your experience, what are the 5 things each of us can do to help solve the Loneliness Epidemic? Please give a story or an example for each.

Loneliness is not an epidemic that has to affect our lives. In fact, I believe there are five things that each one of us can do to go through this process and really kick loneliness out of our lives.

1. Being known by God is the first thing. You may not agree with this premise, but you are here reading an article from a pastor. The first way to deter loneliness in our lives is to be known and loved by God. And here is the greatest thing about this first step: it’s not actually a step we have to take or make happen. The truth is, it’s already happened. God knows each and every one of us and He loves us unconditionally. Truly all we need to do is acknowledge and accept this love. Maybe you have never had a conversation with God, maybe you do not know where to start. But can I encourage you to start with a simple sentence? Just say “God can you let me know you know me? “Can you let me know you love me?” It’s a simple prayer but I truly believe in a God that hears you. I believe if you pray that prayer with faith in your heart, He is going to do things in your life, so you are known and loved by God.

2. Simply be your authentic self. I’ve got to be honest, as a woman in my forties, I realize this is a lifetime journey. It changes with seasons and some seasons are easier. Some seasons it takes a little more effort, but if I don’t want to live a life of loneliness, I have to be the person I am uniquely designed to be. I can’t try to be a cheap imitation of somebody else. I know it’s cliché, but only I can be the very best me there is. Brace yourself for a total mom brag. We have three kids, two boys who are 15 and 13, and our baby girl is 11. Just this past year our baby girl, Grace, moved to a brand-new school as a fifth-grader which is the oldest grade in her elementary school. Recently we had our parent-teacher conference at this new school with her new teacher and I received the greatest mom compliment I’ve ever received. Her teacher said, “you know Grace, she really knows who she is.” When she said that I thought, I want to know that for me personally for my whole life. I not only want to protect that in my daughter but also in me. And that starts by being known by God — the one who created me perfectly and finding security in that truth. Catch the rest of the bullets and the interview here.

We would like to explore and flesh out the trait of resilience. How would you define resilience? What do you believe are the characteristics or traits of resilient people?

Resilience is when you make the decision that you will achieve your goal no matter what battles lie ahead, and you will continue to get up no matter how many times you are knocked down.

Resilient people…

…do not give up. You most likely have heard the Japanese proverb, “Fall down seven times, stand up eight.” No matter how many times you knock down a resilient person, they are always going to get back up.
…are always focused on their ultimate purpose — their “why”, which is often much larger than themselves. They know that if they give up, they are not only letting themselves down, they are letting many others down, as well.
… internalize their pain and reframe it into passion. We all have problems; we all have dark days. What matters is how we respond to these challenges.
…have desire. Simply stated, they want it more. They want it so bad that they are constantly focused on the end goal, and they put in the action to continue pursuing their objectives no matter what obstacles arise.
…are positive and always look at a situation in the following terms: ’What can this failure help me learn?’ or ‘What lesson can it teach me?’ rather than, ‘Why is this happening to me?’

When you think of resilience, which person comes to mind? Can you explain why you chose that person?

Inky Johnson comes to mind right away.

This is a man who worked ridiculously hard while growing up to earn a college football scholarship, and in his last season before he most likely would have been a highly sought-after NFL draft pick, he suffered a career ending injury that paralyzed his right arm. He could have sat there and felt sorry for himself, but did he? No. He kept his chin up and is now one of the best-known motivational speakers out there. He had his entire life’s pursuit derailed, and instead of allowing this injury to get him down, he leveraged it and used his situation to his advantage.

I remember listening to motivational talks of his before some of my football practices or before workouts while I was a student at Iowa Central Community College before my transfer to the University of Iowa, and his talks gave me the encouragement I needed to keep pushing on even when I didn’t want to. If he could take such a devastating situation and turn it into a positive, I decided that I had absolutely no reason not to give it my all each day.

Inky is a perfect example of resilience, and I will be forever grateful to have had his presence bless my life. Inspiring story, check out the rest of it here.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers Reach Out to Help People Stay Well

Scientology Volunteer Ministers of Tampa set up their bright yellow tent and handed out hygiene kits to neighbors through the windows of cars to maintain social distancing.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers of Tampa set up their bright yellow tent and handed out hygiene kits to neighbors through the windows of cars to maintain social distancing.

As the state looks ahead to reopening, a team of volunteers is making sure people understand best practices for prevention.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, April 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — As local residents look forward to the reopening of Florida businesses and beaches, Scientology Volunteer Ministers set up their bright yellow tent to ensure neighbors have what they need to stay well.

They put together and handed out hygiene kits with sanitizer, masks, gloves and a booklet called How to Keep Yourself & Others Well.

Florida has recorded 32,000 COVID-19 cases. And as new facilities open, it is vital that people understand and use prevention. The booklet points out that although most people know that viruses spread, what they often don’t realize is that contagion is possible during “incubation periods”—before the person shows symptoms or realizes he is sick. That is why it is so important that safety precautions stay in place at all times to reduce the risk of spreading disease.

By implementing the basic guidelines in this booklet, people can enjoy the relaxed regulations while still taking an active role in ensuring the health of their friends, families, and those they meet on the street, in stores and at work.

Tampa Bay Volunteer Ministers, who earned their reputation as “Hurricane Heroes” by their response to Hurricane Charlie in 2004, have responded to every local hurricane since, including Irma in 2017, Michael and Florence in 2018, nearby hurricanes such as Harvey in Texas in 2017, Maria in Puerto Rico in 2018, and Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas last year. And the last thing anyone wants is for the year’s hurricane season, which could begin as early as July, to coincide with a new spike of coronavirus cases.

Prevention is important. The Church of Scientology has created its How to Stay Well Prevention Resource Center to prevent the spread of illness and help people keep themselves and others well.

With the motto “an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure,” the website includes information on how viruses and bacteria spread, how to properly wash your hands, the proper use of masks and gloves, social distancing tips, how to clean and sanitize your home, and what to do if you become sick or have symptoms.

‘Beyond the Sphere: Encounters with the Divine’ released

Every major religion can be traced back to accounts of Divine Visitation. It’s time to examine these accounts and the beliefs about God, humanity and the universe they’ve engendered.”

— Al Guart

ALBANY, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, April 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Pulitzer nominated investigative journalist Alfred Stefan Guart today launched his first book – a bold look into “Divine Visitations” and the impact they’ve had on civilization from biblical times until today.

“Every major religion can be traced back to accounts of Divine Visitation,” said Guart. “It’s time to examine these accounts and the beliefs about God, humanity and the universe they’ve engendered.”

Beyond the Sphere” (published by Balboa Press) is a groundbreaking book that challenges existing beliefs about God and urges readers to seek their own unfiltered encounters with the Divine. In it, Guart relives his own encounters with the “Origin of Life” in riveting prose – the kind of clear-headed writing forged by his years as a hard news journalist in both print and television.

Excerpt:

“There was no point where this Entity started or ended. I could not say it was standing over there or it came from that direction. It was everywhere at once. The communication taking place was instant, complete and silent. No words, no symbols or sounds. Yet any misunderstanding was impossible. This was a communion, not a conversation.”

“Beyond the Sphere” examines the lives of some who allege to have had various forms of contact with heaven, from biblical figures to Buddha to Neale Donald Walsch, author of the 1986 sensation “Conversations with God,” who was interviewed for this book.

Early review:
“The writing is lucid as a mountain stream. More importantly, I was captivated by the content. Al performs the neat trick of getting as close as one can to defining the ineffable.”

-Anthony Mancini, award-winning journalist, novelist and director of the Journalism Program at Brooklyn College, City University of New York.

Al Guart hopes publication of “Beyond the Sphere: Encounters with the Divine,” results in more souls having their own direct, unfiltered encounters with God. New Book Shares 12 Practical Strategies to Overcoming Anxiety

Cover art for Moving Beyond Anxiety

Author David Chadwick

Moving Beyond Anxiety by Influential Pastor David Chadwick Shares How God's Truth is the Most Powerful Antidote to Anxiety

Think. Feel. Act. Win the battle for your thought life and you will win the battle over anxiety.”

— David Chadwick

CHARLOTTE, NC, UNITED STATES, April 27, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — In today’s world, struggles with anxiety seem to be reaching epidemic levels. Stress has become a normal part of life, and fear dominates the headlines on a never-ending news cycle. Now, pastor, former NCAA basketball player, radio show host, and licensed counselor David Chadwick takes on the subject firsthand. In his new book, "Moving Beyond Anxiety: 12 Practical Strategies to Renew Your Mind" (April 2020, Harvest House Publishers), Chadwick advocates that God’s Truth is the most powerful antidote to anxiety.

Chadwick began writing "Moving Beyond Anxiety" two years ago. At the time, anxiety was beginning to be exposed as an epidemic negative emotion, an emotion that was one of the major causes of teen suicide. Never did Chadwich dream his book would be released during a worldwide pandemic. “Now, with Covid-19, anxiety issues are off the charts. A recent CNN report said that anxiety medications have increased by 34% since the Covid-19 virus began! I’m trying to offer 12 practical spiritual disciplines that can be practiced as an alternative source of hope and help.”

Chadwick serves as the Founding Pastor of Moments of Hope Church in Charlotte, NC, and there he often counsels individuals and families trapped in a cycle of fear and anxiety. In my counseling ministry as well as in our church body, we started hearing more and more stories of people in our congregation struggling with anxiety. Now, in this time when there is so much unrest in the world, the release date seems providential.”

After years of shepherding his congregation through these struggles, Chadwick is dedicated to sharing the message that Jesus is the key to overcoming anxiety with readers across the globe. After all, Chadwick writes, Jesus commanded His followers to trust in Him and to not be anxious, rather than give in to fear.

In "Moving Beyond Anxiety," Chadwick equips readers to defeat worry and fear forever by immersing themselves in the truth of God through Scripture. He uses Scripture as a base for changing the way readers think and therefore, changing the way they feel and act. The book shares 12 ways you can overcome life’s fears and worries, including Focusing on Faith, Praying, Caring for your Health, Remembering, and Developing an Eternal Perspective.

“Here is what I believe: you are what you think,” Chadwick continues. “Whatever your mind dwells on will exacerbate emotions. It’s called cognitive therapy in psychosocial circles. Scripture confirms these ideas. 'Be transformed by the renewal of your MIND' (Rom 12:2). 'Take every thought captive' (2 Cor. 10:5). Therefore, to change your behavior, you must focus on your thought life. Conform your mind to God’s Word and you’ll see emotions follow. Think. Feel. Act. Win the battle for your thought life and you will win the battle over anxiety.”

"Moving Beyond Anxiety: 12 Practical Strategies to Renew Your Mind" by David Chadwick is available now through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Lifeway, or anywhere you find great books. https://www.movingbeyondanxiety.com

About the Author:
Dr. David Chadwick graduated from UNC Chapel Hill, where he played basketball and was a member of an NCAA Final Four team. He has a graduate degree in counseling from the University of Florida and MDiv and DMin degrees from Columbia Theological Seminary. He is the host of “Moments of Hope” radio broadcast and is the author of nine books, including "Hearing the Voice of God." SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, April 24, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — “You are not alone!” Support Life Foundation mobilizes largest effort in the Bay Area targeting Food Security for at-risk communities during COVID-19 Crisis.

The Support Life Foundation with the support of national and regional organizations such as Islamic Relief USA, Muslim Community Center of Pleasanton, San Ramon Valley Islamic Center, Yaseen Foundation, and Moonlight Humanity Foundation bring together hundreds of volunteers to lead a regional Covid-19 Food & Essentials Care Package Initiative called "You are not alone!". Salah Elbakri, the Executive Director of the Support Life Foundation says, “This is a humanitarian project, poverty knows no race or religion. No organization alone can do this on their own. We have over 30 distribution centers, non-profits, and houses of worship participating in this program; more than 230 volunteers who make this possible. We purchased over 42,000 pounds of food staples, toiletries, and personal protective equipment to distribute to families in dire need because of this pandemic.”

What’s inside? Each 70+ lbs box has enough food staples and personal protective equipment to support a family of 4 for a month. Basics like flour, pasta, oil, sugar, canned foods, beans, and lentils; toiletries like soap, toothpaste, toilet paper; and PPE such as disposable masks. “One of the difficulties was the lack of essentials in stores; we’ve spent the last ten days tracking everything down and negotiating with suppliers.”, explains Elbakri.

A vital aspect of this program is that volunteers will hand-deliver these packages to people's homes. “We want to preserve the dignity of those who have become instantly impoverished and are not used to asking for help. No family wants to receive donations, but this is not a normal situation.”, says Elbakri. As people accumulate debt and wait for government aid to help them stay afloat, it becomes a precarious emotional and financial situation with everyone’s health at risk. “We want them to know,‘You are not alone!’”.

The packaging and distribution officially starts Saturday, April 25th, 11:30 AM at San Ramon Valley Islamic Center located at 2232 Camino Ramon,San Ramon,CA. While the center is closed to the general public due to Covid-19, it serves as the base of operation for this initiative as volunteers observe social distancing rules and personal protective measures.
