New Book Promises to Help People Learn to Live a More Fulfilling and Inspired Life

Ignite Press announced the release of Signs of Life: God’s Invitation to a Better, Stronger & Longer Life, by spiritual leader and lifestyle expert Ken Johnson.

FRESNO, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, June 5, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The book is available on Amazon at https://amzn.to/2TmS52r

Signs of Life presents 97 specific ways to be more alive, offering a wealth of practical ways to understanding and experiencing a better, stronger and longer life.

“It’s all about how to live deeper, higher, fuller, sweeter and richer than ever before,” says Ken. “If you are willing to invest five minutes of your day to learning how to become more alive, my hope is that each five-minute investment will yield a rich return on the other 1,435 minutes of your day.”

To celebrate the launch of the book, the Kindle version of the book will be on sale for 99 cents for a limited time.

The Creator wired Ken Johnson to be an entrepreneur. Before he was ten, he was shoveling snow in the winter and selling hand-picked wild blackberries door-to-door in the summer. Ken graduated in 1972 from George Fox University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and then experienced seven years of rich productivity as a businessman.

Surprisingly, Ken felt a divine nudge to leave the business realm where he was thriving and become a minister. He started by leading a little flock of thirty people, and years later he found himself leading thousands.

Ken served on the Foursquare Church international Board, and on the Foursquare Foundation Board for six years. The Foundation has awarded more than $52,000,000 in grants to fruitful Christian leaders and ministries throughout the world. Seeing tens of thousands of people all over the world find new life in God shot adrenaline into Ken’s soul.

In 2013, Ken, an avid outdoorsman, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Ken handed the leadership of Westside Church (which is still thriving) to his assistant, but he didn’t retire. He ‘re-fired.’ He continued to speak various places and began to direct more and more of his energy to mentoring leaders and writing.

Ken has published three books: Life2 – The Life You Were Created to Live, When it All Comes Down it All Comes Down to This, and Signs of Life – God’s Invitation to a Better, Stronger and Longer Life. Ken is preparing to publish a trilogy called Your Wildest Dream.

Ken’s focus is helping people become more alive through his books and his blog: Much More Alive. Whether writing or speaking, Ken is a vibrant, adventurous storyteller who uses stories to open people’s minds and unbridle powerful emotions. Nothing thrills Ken more than helping people become more prolific, more purposeful, more alive!

Zachor Legal Institute Advocates for Social Media Companies to Rid their Platforms of Antisemitism

Zachor Logo

Zachor Logo

As antisemitic acts soar in the US, we expect that social media companies will do their part to actively monitor and purge such hate speech of their own volition.”

— Ron Machol, COO of Zachor Legal Institute

RED LEVEL, AL, USA, June 4, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Zachor Legal Institute (www.zachorlegal.org) has recently sent letters to Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, updating them about antisemitic postings that are present on their popular social media platforms. These postings violate their own hate speech regulations, and we have asked them to remove this content immediately.

We are using the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s (IHRA) working definition of antisemitism as our guideline for recognizing this form of hate speech directed at Jews.

Countries throughout the world are adopting the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism, which includes both the age-old hatred targeting Jews as well as the more modern venom aimed at Israel as a proxy for Jews.

The inclusion of the newer form of anti-Semitism targeting Israel is critical for the following reasons:

• On university campuses where anti-Semitism is so prevalent, the primary form this takes is discrimination aimed at Israel and Jews who support Israel.
• Anti-Semitism targeting Israel rather than Jews directly is more nefarious, as it is regularly claimed that the attacks are legitimate criticisms of Israel, and often even disguised as Palestinian human rights expressions, when in reality the organized movements targeting Israel openly admit that their goal is to eliminate Israel as a Jewish nation.

What the IHRA definition does is distinguish between legitimate criticisms of Israel that are protected free speech, and expressions that cross the line into unprotected anti-Semitic hate speech. Adoption and implementation of the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism is as legitimate an anti-discrimination measure as the use of similar laws and regulations that prohibit other forms of discrimination, including LGBTQ and gender discrimination.

In the United States, the State Department has adopted the IHRA definition, and the recent Executive Order Combating Anti-Semitism instructs the Department of Education to consider IHRA when evaluating Title VI Civil Rights Act complaints of discrimination against federally funded academic institutions and programs.

What is critically missing is acceptance and enforcement in the online and technology sectors, where anti-Semitism is today most prevalent and spreads quickest. For instance, we referenced in our report The New Anti-Semites an ADL study that “reported 4.2 million antisemitic tweets on Twitter in 2017 alone. This means that over the course of the study, throughout 2017, an average of 81,400 antisemitic tweets were generated per week.”.

In our letters to:

• Facebook – https://zachorlegal.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Zachor-Legal-Institute-Letter-to-Facebook-Regarding-Hate-Content.pdf
• Twitter – https://zachorlegal.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Zachor-Legal-Institute-Letter-to-Twitter-Regarding-Hate-Content.pdf
• YouTube/Google – https://zachorlegal.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Zachor-Legal-Institute-Letter-to-Google-Regarding-Hate-Content.pdf

we identify specific content that violates their own internal hate speech regulations using the IHRA definition of antisemitism. Examples include comparing Israel’s legitimate reactions to Palestinian terror with the Nazi regime, as well as cases calling for Palestine from “(Jordan) River to (Mediterranean) Sea”, a code for the elimination of the State of Israel.

Ron Machol of Zachor Legal Institute said: “People get much of their news and information from social media, so ensuring that discriminatory and hateful antisemitic speech is regulated, much as anti-LGBTQ, anti-Black and Islamophobic hate speech already are, is critical in the fight against hate. As antisemitic acts soar in the US and throughout the world, we expect that social media companies will do their part to remove this dangerous content from their platforms, and take stronger actions in the future to monitor and purge such hate speech of their own volition.”.

“World’s Greatest” Annual Death Observance Amidst Protests & Violence in Wake of George Floyd Murder | Bryan@Televisionews.com

Peacful Protest, Voting, Participating in the Census Are More Effective Ways of Resulting in Change Opposed to Violence, Arson and Looting”

— Khaliah Ali Wertheimer

PHILADELPHIA, PA, UNITED STATES, June 4, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Khaliah Ali, daughter of three-time world heavyweight boxing champion and civil rights activist, Muhammad Ali, is available for news interviews regarding peaceful protests and violent demonstrations following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Four years ago this week; on June 3, 2016, in Phoenix, “The World’s Greatest” died of complications related to Parkinson’s Disease. On June 10, 2016, he was buried near his birthplace of Louisville, Ky. Ali was 74.

Available for news interviews are Ms. Ali, 46, and her son; Muhammad Ali’s grandson, Jacob Ali-Wertheimer, 21. He is a human and civil rights leader on the Harvard University campus.

The Alis reside in suburban Philadelphia. Ali’s widow, Lonnie, resides in metro Phoenix.

Khaliah Ali, who sits on the board of the Philadelphia Juvenile Law Center, says she and her son are carrying-on her father’s legacy of global citizenship. She emphasizes her understanding of the outrage over the police-involved death of Minneapolis’ Floyd but denounces the nationwide violence and vandalism of the past few days.

“While my father was a boxer — punching, jabbing and knocking-out his opponents in the ring, he was not a violent man,” says the Philadelphia native. “My father fought racial inequality and injustice through peaceful protest. He always stressed the importance of abiding by Martin Luther King’s credo, “No building will be burned; no store will be robbed; nobody will be hit, punched or beaten.”

Although Jacob disagrees with the violence and vandalism he explains, “My generation is frustrated with inaction and millennials are lashing-out in anger; believing that rioting is the only method of generating attention and gaining results.”

Past is Prologue

“While watching TV coverage of the riots, especially the events in Muhammad Ali’s hometown of Louisville, I can’t help but reflect on this scenario,” describes Ali.

“My father won the Olympic Gold Medal in Boxing in 1960 and became a global headline; honored by competitors and the sporting world, but, as the New York Times reported, he was known by whites in Louisville as, ‘The Olympic Nigger,’ ” recites Ali.

She continues, “Lore has it that shortly after the Olympic Games in Rome my father was refused service at a Louisville restaurant – common in racially-divided Kentucky. My father left the restaurant and was, reportedly, harassed by police while walking across the city’s Second Street Bridge. Once police passed, in disgust, my father, reportedly, threw his gold medal into the Ohio River. That was a life-defining moment.”

“While we have seen many changes to racial inequality in America since 1960; some things, haven’t changed,” says Ms. Ali.

In 1964, Cassius Clay beat boxer Sonny Liston for the heavyweight boxing title. He claimed Cassius Clay was a slave name. He changed it to Muhammad Ali — a symbol of defiance and membership in the radical Nation of Islam.

Ali went on to ally himself with civil rights leaders Malcom X, Martin Luther King and Jesse Jackson.

Ali won and lost his title three times.

In 1967, he was stripped of his crown when refusing to be drafted in the Vietnam War.

In 1984, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

“Red Bike Moment:” Police Athletic League & Muhammad Ali

When Muhammad Ali—then Cassius Clay—was 12, his new red bicycle was stolen outside the annual Louisville Home Show.

Clay, in tears, reported the crime to a white police officer. He stated, I want to “whup” the thief.

Louisville Police Sergeant Joe Martin trained boxers at the local chapter of the Police Athletic League.

He encouraged Clay to learn to fight before seeking retaliation.

Martin’s gym was in the basement of the same building they were standing in.

The next day, Clay started training. He spent six years "under Martin's wing."

Had Clay not been a victim of crime; had not taken Martin's advice, his life would have taken a different path.

The incident became a catalyst for Clay's boxing career, which gave Clay a purpose in life.

From that point forward, Muhammad Ali experienced an awakening. He began seriously considering the realities of racial tensions in America and the effects of segregation and integration.

Muhammad made a conscious decision to use boxing as a platform for social justice and peacemaking on a global basis.

About Khaliah Ali

Khaliah Ali is actively involved in various civil and human rights and environmental projects, including Philadelphia's Juvenile Law Center.

It Tweeted Sunday, “We stand in solidarity w/community groups in MN and across the country who are grappling w/racialized state violence, inequity, & injustice. “ The Center is the first non-profit, public interest law firm for children in the U.S. that advocates for rights, dignity, equity and opportunity for youth in the child welfare and justice systems.

Most recently, Ali worked on the campaign to elect Steven Reed. He is Montgomery, Alabama’s first black mayor.

She traveled to Africa to promote water purification projects. She worked on an awareness campaign to shed light on human rights violations in Africa’s diamond-mining regions.

Ali also works with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore on climate change initiatives and with Louisiana’s “Green Army," an alliance of civic and environmental groups that seek meaningful social, political, and environmental change.

Ali graduated from Cornell University. She is a former Ford Model, Philadelphia television program host; Conde Nast magazine editor and, currently, is a fashion designer. Her line of apparel is available on ShopHQ — a home shopping channel based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Husband & Son

Khaliah is married to prominent Philadelphia attorney Spencer Wertheimer. Among his clients is Philadelphia's Redevelopment Authority, which he represented before the United States Supreme Court.

Their son, Jacob, is entering his senior year at Harvard University. He is a pre-law student, majoring in political science, statistics and African-American studies.

Jacob, the grandson of Muhammad Ali, is a decathlete on Harvard's track and field team. He is actively involved the Equal Justice Initiative. It is a non-profit organization providing legal representation to wrongfully convicted prisoners and provides legal services to those who did not receive fair trials.

Is Anyone Unaffected by the Pandemic?

The Rev. Eric J. Hall

Spiritual Care Association's CEO: Chaplains Can Play Key Role in Reaching Out to Those Suffering

Chaplains are the medics of the soul, dispensing emotional and spiritual first aid to any and all who need it.”

— The Rev. Dr. Eric J. Hall

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, June 3, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — "As the national death toll edges past 100,000 it is becoming increasingly clear to me that the human impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on healthcare workers does not stop at frontline clinical caregivers. It permeates the entire institution," said The Rev. Eric J. Hall, CEO of Spiritual Care Association and HealthCare Chaplaincy Network.

He continued, "I hope we understand that our doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and other clinicians at the front lines are experiencing an unprecedented, relentless flow of severely ill and dying victims of the virus. Nothing has prepared them for this. They are not military medics deployed in a warzone. If they were, they would be prepared to see crisis, trauma, and loss of life at significant levels. Certainly our healthcare professionals have always experienced traumatic events, but the consistent, daily reoccurrence of so much human suffering is unique and brings unique challenges. I am trusting that the physical and emotional health of these clinicians is top of mind for hospital administrators. It should be.

"In the last couple of weeks, I have heard from two people at opposite ends of the healthcare hierarchy. One is a highly placed executive in a major New York City hospital. He is well educated, well trained, his wall full of framed diplomas, certificates and awards. His work is essential to the running of the hospital, but in the C suite, he is physically removed from the battles going on in his facility's ICUs. Yet, he confided in me that he is unnerved by the emotional impact of so much sickness and death all around him. When he goes home each evening, he leaves behind the real life and death struggles going on in the hospital beds, but he carries with him the no less real human struggle to make sense of the world in which he lives.

"The second person who talked to me about the pandemic's impact is a janitor who works in a healthcare facility in the Bronx. Over his years of service, he has been no stranger to cleaning up blood on the floor after a trauma patient has been admitted to the ER or taking out stained and soiled trash from the OR after a major surgery. Usually, trauma and death come one or two patients at a time. But, he told me, nothing had prepared him for mopping the floors around dozens of gurneys containing bodies waiting to be rolled out the back door to refrigeration trucks parked outside.

"No one who signed up to work in our nation's healthcare facilities ever imagined they would be involved with unrelenting sickness, death, and dying every day for 8, 10, 12 weeks — with no real end in sight. We hear on the news that new cases of coronavirus are diminishing in hard hit places like New York, Massachusetts, Washington, and the San Francisco Bay area. Yet infection rates continue to rise in Texas, Alabama, Georgia and elsewhere even as states begin to relax stay-at-home orders and companies of every kind start cautiously opening for business. Meanwhile, the nation's top medical experts warn about a possible surge in cases this summer and fall followed by a bleak winter season.

"There are no bystanders as this disease rages on. No one was ready for it and no one is unaffected by it. As the English poet John Donne wrote 400 years ago, 'Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind.'

"I am worried about the unseen, unrecognized and untalked about toll the pandemic is having on healthcare workers who are not at the front lines. Everyone who works in healthcare is caught in the coronavirus riptide, not just those who provide hands-on care for the sick and dying. From the C suite to the janitor's closet, other people are suffering emotionally and spiritually from the human impact of the disease. I wonder who they are unburdening themselves to at the end of the day. Who is sitting with them to debrief their feelings and emotions? Who is listening to them as they try to put into words the ways in which they too have been traumatized? Who is taking care of them as they struggle to make sense of things no one has prepared them to handle? Who is encouraging them to set aside their titles and job grades to simply acknowledge their humanity? Who assures the CEO, the security officer, the kitchen worker, the maintenance engineer that they are not being weak, just human? If we wait until this is all over to reach people like this, it will be too late. No one can be sure how traumatized, how damaged people will be emotionally and spiritually by the time we get to the other side of the pandemic.

"Chaplains can play a key role in reaching out to those suffering hidden, collateral damage from working within a system that is overwhelmed by the relentless stream of sick and dying people who enter our institutions of health every day. Ready to bring a compassionate presence and an open, listening heart either in person or online, chaplains are the medics of the soul, dispensing emotional and spiritual first aid to any and all who need it. From the boardroom to the back office, the kitchen to the housekeepers breakroom, chaplains are as comfortable caring for employees who work there as they are ministering to their clinical colleagues on the front lines.

"HealthCare Chaplaincy Network and the Spiritual Care Association, both of which I oversee, are in the business of preparing professional chaplains for a moment such as this. Please reach out to us if you need help, no matter what your title is or where you fit in the hierarchy. You'll find plenty of free resources to help you cope with feelings and emotions you are experiencing at www.spiritualcareassociation.org. And if you need to speak in confidence with a chaplain, please visit our website at www.atimeforcompassion.org.

We are here for you, no matter who you are."

TGTE Condemns China’s Strong-Arming of Hong Kong Security Law, Stands with Protestors.

Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE)

TGTE Also Denounces China Flexing Its Military Muscle in the Himalayas

TGTE Also Denounces China Flexing Its Military Muscle in the Himalayas”

— Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE)

HONG KONG, HONG KONG, June 2, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ —

The Transnational Government of Tamil (TGTE) joins the international community in condemning China’s plan to unilaterally enact a so-called “security” law on Hong Kong. TGTE is deeply concerned that the plan, approved by the Chinese legislature on May 28, infringes on the fundamental rights of the people of Hong Kong to freedom of speech, freedom of association, and to the free flow of information.

While China claims the law is needed to prevent and punish “subversion, secession, and terrorism” against China in Hong Kong, Eelam Tamils (i.e. Tamils from the island of Sri Lanka) know all too well from their own history in Sri Lanka that so-called security laws like these are nothing more than tools for oppression.

Eelam Tamils also share the concern expressed by Australia, Britain, Canada, and the United States in their joint statement that China’s proposed security law will dramatically erode Hong Kong's autonomy, which is guaranteed by the Sino-British Declaration that China agreed to when the United Kingdom handed Hong Kong over to China in 1997. Beijing's plan to bypass seeking approval of the yet-to-be-drafted national security law for Hong Kong from the Hong Kong legislature and instead, unilaterally impose a rights-curtailing law on the people of Hong Kong is a violation of current system of governance in Hong Kong, known colloquially as “one country, two systems,” which protects Hong Kong’s autonomy.

Democratic protesters in Hong Kong, especially students, gained the world’s attention during the second iteration of the 2014 "Umbrella Movement" in 2019, which successfully killed China’s proposed extradition bill that would have dissolved the vital separation between the Hong Kong judicial system and mainland China’s judicial system. TGTE held the hands of protestors in Hong Kong then and continues to hold the hands of protestors in Hong Kong now in the spirit of solidarity and camaraderie in our respective fights for freedom.

TGTE also take this opportunity to condemn China's military square off with Indian troops along the border in the Himalayas. There is no room for military adventurism, especially while the world is suffering from Covid-19. The need of the hour is cooperation and humanitarian action.

ABOUT THE TRANSNATIONAL GOVERNMENT OF TAMIL EELAM (TGTE):

The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) is a democratically elected Government of over a million strong Tamils (from the island of Sri Lanka) living in several countries around the world.

TGTE was formed after the mass killing of Tamils by the Sri Lankan Government in 2009.

TGTE thrice held internationally supervised elections among Tamils around the world to elect 132 Members of Parliament. It has two chambers of Parliament: The House of Representatives and the Senate and also a Cabinet.

TGTE is leading a campaign to realize the political aspirations of Tamils through peaceful, democratic, and diplomatic means and its Constitution mandates that it should realize its political objectives only through peaceful means. It’s based on the principles of nationhood, homeland and self-determination.

TGTE seeks that the international community hold the perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide against the Tamil people to account. TGTE calls for an Internationaly monitored referendum to decide the political future of Tamils.

The Prime Minister of TGTE is Mr. Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran, a New York based lawyer.

Dr. Robert A.F. Turner and PATH Faith Leaders For A United Howard County

Like 20/20 vision, the year 2020 has challenged our social and political sight. This year has brought America, and indeed the world, to an interesting…

COLUMBIA, MARYLAND, UNITED STATES, June 2, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The term 20/20 vision refers to normalized visual acuity. It is a distinction that points to perfect eyesight in the context of normal vision. Thus, 20/20 vision is not divided by gender, sexual orientation, class, creed, or color. It is human sight, albeit, perfectly normal, which is naturally occurring or corrected to the state of 20/20 vision. It is a divine design.

Like 20/20 vision, the year 2020 has challenged our social and political sight. This year has brought America, and indeed the world, to an interesting intersection that has exposed the vulnerabilities of all humanity. This year has challenged the political notions of a US versus THEM theory. As nations have erected borders of safety and land demarcations, the COVID-19 pandemic has either directly or indirectly affected all of us as global citizens by usurping those walls of division, and proving that all humanity shares likeness and sameness.

The only known weapon against this pandemic – which has quite frankly caught even infectious disease and epidemiological professionals off guard – has been scientists and medical professionals of various nations openly sharing with scientists and medical professionals of other countries. The vastness and velocity of COVID’s spread, coupled with the catastrophic outcomes that hospitals were witnessing, demanded that geo-political otherness be immediately dismissed for nations to fight the pandemic in unity. As COVID-19 has shown America and the world that there must be global cohesion – a kind of symmetry of sight and practice – the same attitude must be adopted and demonstrated in Howard County.

On Friday, May 29, Howard County began the rollback of the mandated quarantine to start the first phase of reopening businesses. Unfortunately, this process has exposed ugly fault lines. Divisive language has been used that all too often mirrors the rhetoric of our national political culture. We must not allow racism to rise and proliferate within the culture of our county. We must be united. We must see collectively with a 20/20 foresight, one that is born of a healthy and tolerant insight.

In our view, County Executive Ball and our county government have not attempted to deny any business owner or citizen his or her rights. Instead, we witnessed a strategy of caution that studied national best practices, coupled with the fluctuating metrics that our scientists were reporting.

We commend County Executive Ball for not buckling to the political pressure of those who were calling for Howard County to rush to reopen. In our view, the slow, measured reopening approach has saved lives. County Executive Calvin Ball has saved lives.

The fact is that 2020 has introduced us all to an unwanted, and some might say unmerited darkness. We must join together with determination to be the light which dispels that darkness. In unity, as one Howard County, we must reach a 20/20 focus that allows us to see ourselves through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The road forward may have its bumps, twists, and inconvenient turns, but we who travel upon it must be united, and data- and not date- driven. Like the fabled phoenix that rises from the ash heap of despair to soar towards the lofty air of victory, Howard County will emerge stronger and better together.
