PUD Emergency Pipeline Project – Current County Road Closures and Restrictions

Public Utility District No. 1 of Whatcom County (PUD) is replacing a deteriorating water transmission pipeline in western Whatcom County under an emergency declaration the County issued on August 15, 2026. The project will require intermittent closures and traffic restrictions on County roads as work progresses.

Current road closures and restrictions are as follows:

Unick Road: Through traffic is restricted on Unick Road between Elder Road and Barr Road. The work zone will be secured each night, and local traffic access will be maintained.
Ulrich Road: Ulrich Road is closed to through traffic between S. Church Road and Imhoff Road and is expected to remain closed for several weeks. The affected property owner will continue to have access.

Road impacts will change over the course of the project. Whatcom County Public Works will provide information about upcoming closures and restrictions as it becomes available. To receive Whatcom County road closure information by email, sign up through Notify Me.
