Fairfield County Council Honors Mrs. Eunice Gilbert
Fairfield County is proud to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone — Mrs. Eunice B. Gilbert’s 100th Birthday! Mrs. Gilbert was recognized by Fairfield County Council with a Proclamation celebrating 100 years of life.
Born on September 30, 1926, in Fairfield County to Sam and Pauline Byrd Davis, Mrs. Gilbert is the eldest daughter and the only surviving child of three.
A proud Fairfield County native, she attended our local public schools and later graduated from the Fairfield County Adult Education Program. Throughout her working years, she served with the Clemson Extension Service, Fairfield Manufacturing Company and JPM Corporation.
On March 15, 1951, Eunice married the love of her life, Joe Gilbert. During their 54 years of marriage, they were blessed with seven children. But her love and generosity reached far beyond her immediate family. She lovingly helped raise her sister-in-law’s three children and has continued to be a mentor and caregiver to her great-nephews.
Today, Mrs. Gilbert proudly celebrates a beautiful family legacy of 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren!
Her faith has been the foundation of her life. As a longtime faithful member of St. Mark Baptist Church in Ridgeway, she has served on the Jubilee Choir, the Women’s Auxiliary and as a Deaconess. Her devotion to God and her life of Christian service continue to inspire all who know her.
One hundred years of faith. One hundred years of perseverance. One hundred years of love, family and service.
Please join us in wishing Mrs. Gilbert a very Happy 100th Birthday!
