— Nominator Perry Shurko

IRVINE, CA, UNITED STATES, September 15, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Italian Catholic Federation named Nick Jordan, Founder and CEO of Wells of Life, as the 50th recipient of their Pope Saint John XXIII humanitarian award. Wells of Life is a Christian nonprofit organization that provides access to clean, sustainable water for the poorest communities in Uganda, Africa.

The Italian Catholic Federation created The Pope Saint John XXIII Award as their highest recognition to a lay person of any denomination who exemplifies humanitarian service to society. Initiated in 1970, 2020 commemorates the award’s 50th year.

Pope John XXIII was head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State from 1958 to his death in 1963. From humble beginnings, Pope John XXIII is considered one of the church’s most influential leaders who ushered in Vatican II and changed the face of the Catholic Church throughout the world.

Past winners include the late comedian, Danny Thomas (St. Jude’s Hospital), Congressman Frank Annunzio, Dick Butkus (NFL Hall of Famer), Karl Karcher (Carl’s Jr. Founder), Bruno Serato (The White House Restaurant) and actor Joseph Campanella.

“Water is essential to life and a primary component of Life’s Holy Trinity – Air, Food and Water, the three basics of life on earth,” said Perry Shurko, the Italian Catholic Federation member who nominated Jordan for the award. “No human being should ever be deprived of these elements and I applaud Nick’s extraordinary efforts to save lives and provide greater opportunities to Uganda’s poorest communities.”

The Italian Catholic Federation is a nonprofit fraternal organization for practicing Catholics of all ages and cultures. Founded in 1924, the federation’s mission is to uphold and develop the religious spirit among its members and to spread that spirit throughout the community.

Since 2008, Irvine, Calif.-based Wells of Life has funded the construction of 527 water wells in Uganda and launched Project Restoration in 2019 to repair older, deteriorated wells. When the pandemic halted many operations, the Uganda government designated Wells of Life as first responders and their work provided 600 boxes of soap, face masks and face shields while providing lifesaving hygiene education to 80,000 individuals.

Jordan commented, “This award honors the work and humanitarian commitment of the Wells of Life team on three continents. I have watched our organization unite the world through access to water. It’s one of the great honors of my life to accept this award on behalf of Wells of Life.”

About Wells of Life
Wells of Life is based on the belief that water is a basic human right and should be available to all people. Founded in 2008 on Christian principles, the worldwide nonprofit organization views access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene as the catalyst that drives change and transforms community life for Africa’s poorest and most vulnerable people.

Made to Live: A Physician's Journey to Save Lives

Book Made to Live by Dr. Paul Saba

Made to Live by Dr. Paul Saba

Dr. Paul Saba, an American and Canadian physician has just released his inspiring book Made to Live about his personal journey to save lives.

Every human life is valuable whether you are pre-born, after birth and even at the end of a long life, Never give up, always have hope. You are valuable because you are made to live”

— Dr. Paul Saba

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, September 15, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — On September 15th, Dr. Paul Saba, an American and Canadian physician who has worked in underdeveloped countries, released Made to Live, an inspiring book about his deeply personal journey to save lives.

The journey begins with his story of his daughter Jessica who was born with a severe heart abnormality.

The doctors told Dr. Saba and his wife, Marisa that their pre-born daughter, Jessica had little chance of survival, and if she lived she would have a poor quality of life.

Despite doctor's persistent recommendations to abort her up to 24 weeks during the pregnancy, Dr. Saba and his wife, Marisa, were determined to save Jessica. When the delivery date approached, they were asked how aggressively the medical team should intervene to save Jessica after she was born. Marisa courageously responded: "I have done everything to come this far, and you do everything you need to do to keep her alive." Jessica is now a flourishing, energetic 11-year old.

"Every human life is valuable whether you are pre-born, after birth and even at the end of a long life "never give up, always have hope. You are valuable because you are made to live," Dr. Saba reiterates in Made to Live.

Published by Winnipeg-based Word Alive Press, Made to Live www.madetolive.com tells for the first-time Dr. Saba's story of growing up in a family rooted in service to life. Even the book's creation was a family affair. The title comes from a drawing by Jessica when she was seven years old. The book's cover was designed by their son, John-Anthony. Eldest daughter Eliana contributed a chapter about saving children's lives in the underdeveloped world.

A family physician in his birthplace of Montreal, Canada, Dr. Saba draws on his years as a doctor, husband and father to help debunk the mythology that life is just one more disposable commodity.

The book is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Chapters, Indigo, Apple iBooks, Kobo, Google Play, Kindle, and Scribd vendors. The book will soon be available in other languages.

You can contact Lisa Hanash for review copies.

Christianity, Creation Care, and Climate Change Align in Insightful and Thought Provoking Documentary

Cowboy & Preacher artwork

Tri Robinson on his Idaho ranch

Tri Robinson discusses faith and environmentalism in his study

New film examining environmentalism and evangelicalism – Cowboy & Preacher: The Life & Times of Tri Robinson – via live streaming event, DVD, and VOD.

COWBOY AND PREACHER aims at unconverted Christians who may not take creation-care seriously while offering non-Christians an understanding of conservative evangelical life, values, and mindset.”

— Will Fraser

NASHVILLE, TN, UNITED STATES, September 15, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Today, Ocean Avenue Entertainment and Director/Producer Will Fraser have released the much-anticipated documentary COWBOY AND PREACHER: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF TRI ROBINSON on DVD and streaming through Amazon Prime.

Tonight, Fraser and film subject Pastor Tri Robinson will also participate in a special online interactive event. This virtual “Campfire Chat” will also feature prominent leaders in Conservative Christianity as well as Environmental and Creation Care communities, including Cassandra Carmichael, the Executive Director of National Religious Partnership for the Environment, and Matthew Sleeth, author of “Serve God, Save the Planet.”

Viewers are encouraged to interact with the panelists by asking questions and sharing thoughts on topics of evangelicalism and environmentalism. The online screening begins at 7:30 pm ET, September 15, with the live Campfire Chat immediately following. Tickets for the COWBOY & PREACHER event can be found at https://live.theatricast.com/events.

The motion picture soundtrack, with original music by Richard Quesnel, is available in the US through Apple Music and on Spotify. https://open.spotify.com/album/2YGsTftyHPsCzn9pnrXmnw

COWBOY AND PREACHER shares the life of Tri Robinson, an evangelical pastor in Idaho who is also a life-long environmentalist. Tri has battled throughout his life to try to get many people of faith to realize that being a conservative Christian and an environmentalist are not mutually exclusive. Most environmental films seem to be framed for a liberal audience – i.e. they preach to the converted. COWBOY AND PREACHER aims at unconverted Christians who may not take creation-care seriously while offering non-Christians an understanding of conservative evangelical life, values, and mindset.

In an election year, during a global health emergency, while wildfires burn out of control in the west and hurricanes batter the south, the film is exceptionally timely. In the film, we see Tri’s efforts to create a green conservative church and unite this idea with his life as a rancher, all while developing a Christian system of ideas that unites environmentalism with moral development and action to battle climate change.

Tri Robinson communicates with a passion that embraces his diverse life experiences as the backdrop for the greater purpose to see the world changed for the better. At the very core of this cause is reformation on many fronts – a deep, authentic walk with God, innovative education, ethical godly leadership, and living a sustainable lifestyle that leaves a positive impact on the environment. Driven by a strong faith and passion for the Kingdom of God, Tri has given the greater part of his adult life to Christian leadership. After a profound life-changing experience in 1980 while working among the Karen Hill Tribe people on the border of Burma and Thailand, he and his wife Nancy made the decision that Tri would leave public education and enter fulltime ministry. They served for eight years as associate pastors for the Desert Vineyard in Lancaster, California. In 1989, they moved to Idaho to establish and build the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Boise. Over the next 25 years, Vineyard Boise grew into a strong outreaching church with a membership of about 3000 people. They have developed a 25 – acre campus of facilities which serves the community around them as well as the world’s poor. www.trirobinson.org.

Will Fraser is an award-winning documentary filmmaker. He was educated at three contrasting universities – Dalhousie in Canada, Cambridge in the UK, and the University of Mississippi in the USA. He is a musician, writer, and filmmaker, fired by the will to make change through filmmaking. He has won numerous awards for his documentaries that make classical music fascinating and accessible (BBC Music Magazine “best DVD” twice, and the Deutschenschallplattenkritikpreis three times). These music films include Martinikerk Rondeau, The Genius of Cavaillé-Coll, and Maximum Reger. He is fascinated by America and has made three films about the country so far – Soul Searching for the Blues, Once Upon a Time in Knoxville, and Cowboy and Preacher: The Life and Times of Tri Robinson. Outwardly he is mild-mannered, but in his heart, he follows the burning film sense of directors like Sam Peckinpah. www.fuguestatefilms.co.uk

Achievement Facilitator Doreen South to be Featured on Close Up Radio

HAMILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA, September 15, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — We all suspect there's something else, another world, another side of the veil and that the people who loved us don't just disappear when they pass on. They take their love for us with them.

Communicating with Divine Helpers and Loved Ones can support you in making your best decisions as well as overcoming the loss of a loved one.

Doreen South describes herself as a “conduit for spirit.” Her spiritual gifts allow her to channel energy to reconnect with loved ones and help people make their best choices.

“The energy of grief is thick. The density of this energy is the barrier between us and our loved ones who have passed on,” says Doreen. “I can help people connect directly with their loved ones, and by doing so give them insight into their path so that they can move forward with confidence.”

Doreen’s work is both sacred and respectful. Her abilities are akin to the traditional native ways of connecting with the spirit world, and as natural as a conversation.

“When you cross over, healing is available,” says Doreen. “Any angst or animosity or emotional toxicity is released to allow their spiritual illumination to shine and be who they are in their spirit. There’s compassion and understanding and they'll stand by us even as we make the wrong choices to ensure we learn the lessons we need to learn.”

This understanding of spirit is why Doreen says she is very comfortable working with people. She provides evidentiary information she couldn’t possibly know, channeled through her from the other side in its purest form possible.

“I don't make the choices for them and neither do the Divine Helpers,” says Doreen, “but together we clear the path for people to make their best and correct decisions.”

And the best part about Doreen’s work is you don’t necessarily have to believe to benefit from it.

“It is so rewarding to witness people levitate above their emotional pain and find clarity,” says Doreen. “I definitely need to be here making positive changes that help people.”

Close Up Radio will feature Doreen South in an interview with Jim Masters on September 17th at 2pm EDT

Blood in the Low Country by Paul Attaway Released for Worldwide Distribution

Mystery Thriller Is Attaway’s Debut Novel

Writing the book was a labor of love. I enjoyed developing the characters, a setting, and a plot that will entertain and thrill readers to the last page. ”

— Paul Attaway

CHARLESTON, SC, UNITED STATES , September 14, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Blood in the Low Country (ISBN 978-1735401621, Linksland Publishing, 2020) by Paul Attaway has been released for worldwide distribution. This religious mystery adventure tale is Attaway’s debut novel. This riveting book transports readers to the South of the mid twentieth century with a façade of gentility that hides bigotry, greed, violence, and deceit; along with carefully crafted characters that will captivate readers. The paperback edition of Blood in the Low Country retails for $18.95. The book is also available in Kindle format for $8.99. The book has earned strong endorsements and reviews from readers and reviewers alike who eagerly await Attaway’s next novel.

“I am very pleased to see Blood in the Low Country released,” said Paul Attaway. “Writing the book was a labor of love. I enjoyed developing characters, a setting, and a plot that will entertain and thrill readers to the last page. If you enjoy a good mystery, Blood in the Low Country is the book for you.”

Blood in the Low Country takes the reader back in time. The year is 1973, and by all appearances, Monty Atkins has a wonderful life. He lives in beautiful Charleston, SC, his small law practice is growing, and he and his wife are raising two boys. Walker is their own son and Eli is a child from Rose’s first marriage, a troubled union she has been running from since its dissolution.

But brewing beneath the surface lurks a conspiracy of lies, about who they are and what they believe. When a brutal murder and a shocking betrayal turn their world upside down, Monty’s faith in God and in everything he holds true is stretched to the breaking point. He must decide if there is anything, he won't risk to save his family. This Southern family mystery will captivate you as the hunt for the killer threatens everything Monty holds dear.

“Blood in the Low Country is not just another good read. Its characters are smartly drawn. Its themes are resonant, provoking,” says Jay Boyer, author, playwright, and Professor Emeritus, Creative Writing Program at Arizona State University. “And there’s an authorial intelligence throughout that reminds you time and again that this will not be Paul Attaway’s one and only book. Not if we’re lucky.”

About the Author

Paul was born and raised in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Paul and his wife, Lyn, met in college at Georgetown University and were married after Paul graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1988 where Paul embarked on a thirty-year business career before retiring so he could write fiction. Paul and Lyn raised three children together in Phoenix and now split their time between Phoenix and Charleston, South Carolina.

Blood in the Low Country is Paul Attaway’s debut novel. Writing this book, along with the move to Charleston, is a coming home of sorts, a return to the South. The history and culture of America’s South is rich, complicated, at times comical, sad, tragic, uplifting, and inspiring. Paul hopes that his novels capture even a small bit of this tapestry.

Pomegranate Pictures Attaches Yasmine Al-Bustami to Co-Star in Immigration Indie

Yasmine Al-Bustami

All American Texan Girl from Abu Dhabi, UAE to Co-Star in Michigan Indie

Yasmine is beautiful, quick witted, and a confident Middle Eastern immigrant. She’s perfect for the role of our nemesis, Mary Yousif.”

— Weam Namou, Director

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI, UNITED STATES, September 14, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Pomegranate Pictures is pleased to announce the attachment of Yasmine Al- Bustami to co-star in the 2021 production of Pomegranate. “We are pleased that Yasmine has agreed to co-star in our American-Iraqi immigration-assimilation comedy. She radiates a personality and glamour that reminds us at once of a Persian princess and the sassy all American girl next door,” said Stan Williams, the project’s Executive Producer.

Yasmine Al-Bustami was born in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. and immigrated to Texas with her family when she was three years old. But at 13 she was sent back to Jordan because she was becoming “too Americanized.” The result? Today she considers herself an all-American girl, who’s super Texan, loves country line dances and Dallas Cowboys football. She’s fueled by hummus, kabobs, brisket & queso, and says “Y’all” a lot. Her immigrant family naturally pushed her toward a professional career, so she earned a degree in Finance from the University of Texas planning to pursue a career in investment banking. But she was always drawn to the arts. So, before she entered the business world Yas decided to explore her creative side and that led to acting. Most recently she wrapped a guest starring role on CBS’ S.W.A.T. as well as a supporting role on independent kiteboarding film, Send It!. She has also starred in the CW Seed’s musical comedy I Ship It. Previous appearances include: John Legend’s music video Surefire, Netflix’s You Get Me, The CW’s The Originals, CMT’s Nashville, Freeform’s Switched at Birth, and CBS’ The Inspectors. Coming to the U.S. as an immigrant herself, Yas is excited to be a part of the Pomegranate team and help bring this story to life!

For Pomegranate, Yasmine will play the role of “Mary Yousif,” Niran’s well-assimilated, and beautiful Chaldean Iraqi neighbor who loves to help immigrants assimilate whether they want to or not. Having discovered American fashions Mary allows her luscious dark hair to flow freely, which further infuriates Niran’s hijabi Muslim conservatism. Mary could have any young man she wants, and Ali is watching, but she’d rather date her job as a refugee settlement agent.

Pomegranate’s writer-director, Weam Namou said,
“Yasmine is a natural for bringing the character of MARY, our protagonist’s’ nemesis, to life. Like MARY, Yasmine is beautiful, quick witted, and a confident Middle Eastern immigrant. She’s perfect for the role of our nemesis, Mary Yousif.”

Pomegranate is a dramedy by writer-director Weam Namou, based on her childhood experiences immigrating from Iraq to the United States, and then as an adult living through the presidential election of 2016. Consequently, Pomegranate is the story about how, in the weeks before the election of Donald Trump in 2016, a young, politically liberal, Iraqi Muslim immigrant struggles to find her footing in a neighborhood of well-to- do, politically conservative, Iraqi Christians, while battling her family’s fears of deprivation and demands of loyalty to Muslim traditions.

Pomegranate Pictures, LL is owned and managed by Weam Namou, who wrote the screenplay and will direct the movie, and Stan Williams, veteran filmmaker and Hollywood script consultant, who will produce. They are working together in association with Buffalo 8 Productions (Santa Monica, CA) to produce the movie.
